Montana_quarterly_cover_1_3We just posted the Montana Quarterly article on the sanctuary that appeared in the magazine’s winter issue.  It is the best piece we’ve seen written that captures the real spirit of the animals here.  And the photos are stunning.  The editor of the Montana Quarterly graciously gave us permission to post the article and also was kind enough to send us the digital files as well.

The article is titled "Second Chances:  Couple’s one-of-a-kind ranch provides care and a home for blind and disabled animals."

You can access the article directly by clicking here or you can go to our Web site’s In The News page and find it there.

Note:  This is a big PDF file — it’s just under 2 MB — so depending on the speed of your Internet connection, you may need to be patient for it to download.  For example, on a slow DSL (256K) it will take about one minute.  On a dial-up it will take almost 5 minutes.

    Wow!
I just read the article in the Montana Quarterly. What a fabulous article, being a Canadian and never being to Montana it made me want to catch a flight and come right out to help shovel poop or whatever you need doing. The author really said it all and so very beautifully..you must be so proud of what you have accomplished on your ranch..
A big hug for you all!

What a beautiful article in the Montana Quarterly! I just read it & have tears in my eyes. I’m so grateful that your fantastic efforts are being acknowledged and published, so you can reach (and teach) more people. Thank you so much for sharing. Hopefully, as well, this can get the ranch more donations.

I loved the article and the pictures. I would love to have a copy of that issue and a copy of the picture of Cactus Jack with the gorgious fall background. I was so happy to see him running through the field it brought tears to my eyes. I know he’s safe and very happy. You do wonderful things to save those blind horses. I am so glad you are there. I just wish there were more places for blind horses because I know just from my experience that so many are put down or sent to slaughter just because they are blind when these blind horses have so much life in them.
    Thank you!

Steve – that was a wonderful article! I enjoyed reading it and hope it helps continue your mission to get the word out about the fate of blind horses. We just recently took in our 2nd blind horse, a 12 year old Appy/Arab mare. She is a wonderful horse and will be competing with Cowgirl Spirit Rescue Drill Team on February 18th and 20th. We are thrilled to have this ‘useless’ horse on our team 🙂
    Congratulations again!
