The Great Falls Tribune had a terrific story on the ranch in the paper yesterday.  They carried a "teaser" photo and lead on the front page that said "The Rolling Dog Ranch:  Ovando ranch provides rehab and love for disabled animals."

The story ran on the cover of the life section, and this is what it looked like.  We got the paper in the mail today and I scanned in the page.

You can read the online version of the Tribune story here.

I especially liked the opening line:  "Love is blind.  It can also be deaf, incontinent and might not walk quite right."

In the photo of Alayne hugging the three dogs, that’s blind Bud on the left, blind Penny in the foreground, and deaf Tyler the English Pointer on the right.  In the online edition they use the same photo, but in a larger form.

In the photo of the horses — which was used as the teaser on the front page — that’s blind Destiny on the left and blind Nikki on the right.

The article continued on page 2 and featured a photo of blind Willie, our Beagle who hadn’t been adopted yet when the reporter visited the ranch.

What a wonderful article and my new tag line for the Rolling Dog Ranch is: “Love is blind. It also can be deaf, incontinent and might not walk quite right.” That is poetry! Thank goodness you didn’t wait 15 years.

Right on… You guys are so awesome! I know that it is to you and Alayne doing what you do.. really just running this ranch whole-heartedly with love for these animals. BUT we all know this is a huge commitment attached with emotional hard work. What angels you are here on earth. This is way cool.

I love it when y’all get exposure like this!
Great article and the first line you see is purrrefect.
The more education people get on disabled animals the better; maybe it will help others if they find their own pet becomes disabled.
A recommendation: Animal Miracles on Animal Planet; it’s on daily. Yesterday’s segment had a tiny, rear-legged, paralized dog who got around in a cart (like Spirit did). He and his owner went on to educate people and visit many groups. Very touching and inspiring.
    Just like you guys are!

    Hi guys,
Thankyou for your dedication to the disabled and rejected aand imperfect animals of the world. I have some rescued and ‘liberted’ friends of my own, and I KNOW how hard it is financially to do this. However, like you two, this is not a choice, rather it is a driving need to do this.
If only the world come have an enth of the compassion you both have, it would be a so much better place.
These animals give back so much in return for a warm, loved world. They just need a second chance and someone to love them. Congratulations and if I was on your side of the world I’d be there to help. Good luck with your future work.
