Deaf Dogs Book Cover

Melissa McDaniel emailed to say that our promotion of her book sales resulted in proceeds of around $1,000 that will be going to the ranch!  Wow!  Thank you to everyone who ordered one of Melissa's beautiful books, and thanks to Melissa for doing this!

Melissa also wrote, "I have to say, and I deal with a lot of rescues, that your supporters are by far some of the nicest people on the planet!  I so thoroughly enjoyed connecting with them over the phone. I think it's a strong testament to the special place and community you both have built over the last 10 years. The world needs more people like you."

If you'd like to order the books in the future and have 30% of the proceeds go to the ranch, Melissa has a special page up on her website:

Thanks again to all of you!

Watch for Melissa’s next book–she told me that she was considering a project about blind dogs! We adopted a senior blind miniature poodle in 2009 and he is a joy. Thanks to RDR, I wouldn’t hesitate to adopt a dog with a “handicap” as long as we can provide the care he/she needed. Oh, almost forgot–I ordered both books.

    Thank you Melissa!
It is such a pleasure to support Alayne and Steve.
And an added gift is all the knowledge that we are learning about “disabled” animals.

    Dear Steve and Alayne,
I just learned of your animal shelter and wonderful website/blog from a dear friend of mine. It’s AMAZING! I am so impressed with the wonderful work you do! I recently bought a home in Vermont and will move up next year. I am happy that I will be near enough to visit often. Before that, I will surely be up north and would LOVE an opportunity to visit you guys. What an amazing place! Now I am hooked and start my day with a visit to your blog, too!
    Best regards,
    Ursula
