Molly in tub 1

Our wonderful groomer, Lori Fillion from Littleton, New Hampshire, came out today for her regularly scheduled appointment for the two blind Poodle sisters, Molly and Priscilla.  Those two girls take up much of the day, but Lori can usually fit in at least one more who might need a make-over, and today it was the blind Yorkie, Clyde.  But the main production is always Molly and Priscilla, of course.  That's Molly in the bathtub in the photo above, and here she is a few seconds later, sticking her tongue out (at me for taking her picture in the tub?):

Then, after sitting in front of the hair dryer for quite a while, they moved to the laundry room, where we have the perfect built-in shelf that serves as a grooming table when it's not full of folded fresh bedding:

But for close-up work like clipping around the face and ears, Lori finds the light in the solarium better, and we just happen to have a big, wide table set up in there:

It was bright and sunny outside, and the solarium heats up so much on days like this — even in winter — that we had to hit the switch to roll out the retractable awning over it.

And finally, here's Molly, just a few minutes away from being done:

Lori does a fabulous job with the girls, who have really taken to her.  And we really like these grooming house-calls, too — it saves us a lot of time driving  somewhere, dropping them off, and then having to pick them up several hours later.  And it's more comfortable and less stressful for the girls to have the grooming done right here at home.  (Although I'm not sure how stressful it can really be to have someone pamper and fuss over you for hours on end, you know?  Don't women pay big money to go to spas for exactly this sort of thing?)

Perhaps I digress. Anyway … a happy grooming day was had by all!

Lori from Littleton sounds like a great person. Littleton must abound with fine people.
In the early 1960s, my husband, his brother, and I, along with our 2 dogs, had just started on a 9-day hike in the northern New Hampshire mountains. We had walked a mile or so up the trail from Franconia Notch campground to Lomesome Lake when one of our dogs found, and picked up, a porcupine. We tried to take some of the quills out but they were too well embedded. Oh, dear. We went back to the campground to try to locate a vet. Where might one be and how can we get our dog to one?
We had no car at that point, having gotten a ride from Pinkham Notch to our trailhead. With no hesitation, the campground man said we could use his car to take our dog to Littleton, about 15 miles away.
We left the brother and the other dog for collateral. Off to Littleton. Quills out. Return car, thank man profusly, rejoin brother and dog, and resume our hike.
I am reminded of this happening fairly frequently. What a wonderful man to loan our dog and us, perfect strangers, his car! And Littleon– I’ve always have a very warm spot in my heart for you and your kindly vet.

They really are a sweet pair. They look like a couple of debs getting ready for a homecoming party at a frat house at Vanderbilt.

The girls do look fabulous, if I do say so myself! What a wonderful job Lori has done and what a great convenience to you that she is willing to come out to the ranch. It’s terrific that the girls have taken so well to her, it makes things that much easier.
Would love to see a picture of the newly groomed Clyde!

Nice Job on the girls!! They look beautiful. I groom my own poodle mix and good thing she doesn’t care what she looks like. I bet the girls are loving feeling so good (and I like the the fur on their ears). I also would love to see little Clyde all spiffyed up.

Wow, the dogs look great after the grooming! I always found it very funny to see dogs during bathtime. You never really think that the size of their heads were so small.

I just love these two beautiful babies and I am absolutely THRILLED to see that they are now wearing their “hair” in the poodle cut and not that “grizzly bear” do they were sporting for a while. They may be blind but they still deserve to have “style”!!! After all, they are French, Monsieur. Good job!!

Lori, Amazing work. I have a Standard poodle and she really stresses her grooming even tho I stay with her all 2 1/2 to 3 hours. (She has had the same groomer, a poodle specialist, since she was 9 weeks old.) What a blessing these girls have in you.
Steve, some girls do NOT like the spa:)
They are such beautiful girls anyway. And yes, Photos of Clyde?

As the owner of two poodles and one near-poodle, I’d like to extend to your groomer compliments on her work. Molly and Priscilla, you look as gorgeous as ever. Kudos to Alayne and Steve for realizing that for some girls, it does feel better to know you’re looking great!
