This is blind Buddy, who came to us from a shelter in Spokane as a lanky puppy. A wonderful lady in Missoula, Susan S., adopted Buddy last year, and just emailed us an update with new photos:
Just wanted to say hi and send you some pictures I took of Buddy today when I gave him a new tennis ball. He always does the same thing whenever he gets a new ball — first he squeezes it in his mouth a few times. Then he rolls on it. Then he takes it to another side of the yard as if to say, "It’s mine, all mine." 🙂
He’s doing really well. Loves going for walks more than anything else, and often we walk by a nearby tennis court in the park behind Sentinel High School where we might even find an abandoned ball or two! No one ever knows he’s blind unless I tell them, and sometimes people will say, "Oh, the poor dog," but I emphasize that he is not "poor." I never feel sorry for him. He’s smart, happy, healthy, and loving, so what’s to feel sorry for?

As you can tell, Buddy’s a perfect example of what we say about these guys — they may be disabled, but it doesn’t stop them from enjoying all the things they’d do if they weren’t disabled. They get just as much out of life.
Thanks for the update and the photos, Susan!
