Blind Penny isn't the first dog we've had who seems to prefer a deep hole in gravel to a Kuranda cot with a bed on top … deaf Tyler (since adopted) took this to a new level … but what struck us is that she only recently developed a real affinity for this sleeping option. And usually it's first thing in the morning, as you can tell from the early morning light shining on her in this photo I took a couple of days ago. That hole she dug is actually now below the concrete slab that Widget's House sits on … almost a foot deep. We've filled it in, and as usual, a few hours later it's dug up again. So … the hole stays. The dog enjoys. Who are we to wonder why?

And I suppose if you lined the rock bed hole with one of the soft and comfy pads she would pull out the pad and still sleep on the rocks?….
Ah, doggie logic… who can figure it? Gotta love them even if they don’t make any human sense…
With our Roxie, we have learned that if we are patient, her reasoning will become evident to us.
I’m happy you are being patient with your “rock bed hole diggers” – some day their logic will reveal itself…..
When it does, clue us in!LikeLike

Well, somebody had to take Tyler’s place as Official Canine Bed Digger. Maybe Penny figures she’ll get a new home, too, if she tries Tyler’s method. It’s good to see pretty Penny turn up in a happy post.

I voted in the Shelter Challenge! Today is the first day to get your votes in. Let’s see if we can beat Best Friends this time! I’m voting this time in honor of Teddy because he’s been through so much and he’s still determined to live the good life he deserves at RDR!

Penny, You are beautiful. Whatever makes you happy!
ps: I would be honored to make you the blankie of your dreams, but so far have not seen the pattern “dirt”, 🙂LikeLike

Obviously a comfy bed for this young lady. She knows how to make it just right, thank you very much. Nice of you humans to finally accept that she knows what she is doing 😀 It takes humans a while to catch on.

Today is the first day for all of us to start voting again for The Rolling Dog Ranch on the Animal Rescue Site! So come on everybody, let’s hit the ground running!
I think Penny is perfectly contented with her hole…that’s a look of contentment if I ever saw one!
Big hugs to all,

A girl should be mysterious, ever changing and firm about her decisions once she comes to them. Sound like Penny has the whole package. : )
