Molly with snowball on chin

I was putting the dogs back inside Widget's House today after their morning romp when I noticed blind Molly had a small iceball hanging off her chin.  Even though she kept walking and prancing around the floor, it stayed right there on her chin … and she seemed oblivious to it.  Now, she and her sister Priscilla are great snow dogs and seem to not mind cold weather at all.  I presume that's because of the Poodle breed's history as a water dog and the nice coat that gave them.

But clearly she had been rooting around in the deep snow this morning with her head and face, which is one reason she has that tousled Tina Turner hairstyle on top.  I thought about grabbing a brush and touching up her coiffure before taking the photo, but realized I'd probably lose the iceball before I got done.  Molly and Priscilla are due for their regular trip to the groomers, but it's been so incredibly cold that we decided to let the "ranch Poodle" look go a bit longer than usual.  We figured that this time of year, the girls would rather be warmer than prettier!  On the other hand, maybe Molly thought the iceball was a nice winter fashion accessory.

She is gorgeous just the way she is. I love her ranch look. She lives in Ovando, MT where she can be a “real” dog, not Manhattan, NY.
    Thank goodness.
    Great pic

We let our standard poodle, Marnie mia, go for 8 weeks usually between grooms. We went every 5 weeks prior to this difficult economy.(we have 25 animals to care for) Fortunately she has “great hair” and does not mat. This past round we went 11 weeks as Oregon was colder too! I am sure that your girls appreciate the extra coat!Montana cold… WOW! It takes 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours for a grooming and that is just for that ranch clip like yours. Marnie is not thrilled with the procedure. She wants to get home to her guys, a GSD, a pit bull terrier and a Schipperkie.

I would imagine every single hair counts when you’re living in sub zero weather.
And I just have to say Alayne, you got you a good man there. To actually ponder brushing Molly’s hair prior to the photo…..

What a cute, funny and fantastic photo!
Molly is such a gorgeous, pretty and sweet looking poodle (Poodle’s are one of my favorite breeds of dogs, though I love ALL animals, pure-bred or not) and clearly Molly is very happy playing in the snow.
I love winter time too and the feeling of soft snow falling across my face, so I can relate to Molly’s love of the winter wonderland!
This is an adorbale capture of Molly, and with that iceball on her chin, she looks like a little ‘Santa Paws’ 😉
I wish Molly, her sister Priscilla, and all the other animals and entire staff there at Rolling Dog Ranch a very very Happy New Year!
I hope 2010 is your best and happiest year yet 🙂
    <3’s and hugs from,
    – Jane
