Patti Died Tonight

Patti for blog

Our beautiful blind girl Patti died tonight, just a few minutes before 7 p.m. She passed away here at home peacefully, lying on a big soft fleece bed in the dog room, covered with a fleece blanket. It was three weeks since she was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma. She was one of our stars, a favorite of volunteers, employees, visitors and media over the years. Only four dogs have been with us as long as Patti — Widget, Goldie, Cedar and Libby. So she was a fixture not only of the sanctuary, but of our hearts as well.

    She looked like a real sweet girl. Thank you for keeping her so happy over the years – they are all the better for it! Someone once told me that a pet knowing they were loved was the best gift we could give when they pass.

    I am so, so sorry. She was a beautiful girl, and I know you would give anything to see her playing, again. Thank you so much for the lives and the home you give to the animals most people would just shove aside. Some of us know better, but so few can do what you guys have done.     I don’t know you or Patty, but I know how sad I feel reading this,
    and reading Patty’s story. Sad, of course, for her life before you entered it. I feel so much better just knowing people like you exist and are there to help the Patty’s of the world. I know she is at peace tonight and truly looking down with love at those who saved her.

    I lost my old guy today – almost 17yo cat. Went on his own. Wish I’d been here with him as I was there when he was born, but he knew he was loved, and I take peace in that.

    Thank you for giving Patti a loving home for all these years. Being able to take her back home from the vet’s after the awful news let you have time with her before you had to say goodbye. I know that she felt love and comfort from both of you every day. She has one of the sweetest faces I have ever seen on a dog. God bless you both.

    I’m so sorry to hear this. She was such a sweetheart and I know she will be missed by everyone. This must be the time of the year that a lot of our furbabies leave us. We lost our precious Meisha exactly a month ago. She was not blind but her sister is.

    My heart is breaking for you guys right now. I am so so sorry. HATE HATE HATE cancer!!!! I am on my way to love on Gabe more. You both saved him and he has been cancer free for over two years.
