Madison in basket 1

When Alayne and I came in from chores on Friday morning we found blind Madison squashed inside a wire basket in the dog room. This just didn't look comfortable at all, as you can see. I've posted many times over the years about the odd choices some of our dogs make in their sleeping arrangements, and this one certainly fit in that category.

To show you what her other available options were at the same time in the dog room, here's a selection of the other bedding choices:

Maybe not thick enough foam, perhaps.

Nope, too thick:

Madison bed 3

Okay, how about this one:

Madison bed 1

Nope, been there, done that.

And notice there was no one else on those other beds.

No, for some reason she just found this new basket to be peculiarly comfortable:

Emphasis on the word "peculiar"!

Madison knew she’d never grace RDF’s blog if she chose a conventional bed!

It’s got a shaded overhang and 2 sort-of walls; all in all a nice doggy cave. The others are way more exposed to potential dachsund infiltration. Cozy is as cozy does!

I wonder if she was a cat in a former life. Definitely reminds me of our cats and their sleeping positions. She is a sweetie.

How do you ever get anything done for chores? I would see this and want to get down to hug Madison, and all of the other dogs. This blog is a great way to start the week.

It never ceases to amazes me to see some of the ways our pets find to be comfortable. One of my dogs, Angel, gets into positions that make her look like a pretzel and she’s comfortably sleeping away. I guess beautiful Madison feels the same way! I love that picture, it brought a smile to my face!

Looks like she enjoys feeling contained… In her chosen bedding there is siding which might be creating that feeling of holding/ containment for her… Just a thought!

Now, the next question is, was she able to get out by herself? Looks like she is pretty well wedged in there, and getting that leg pulled back through might have been difficult. 🙂 Madison is just saying that you’re never too old to try something new.

I’m betting that the security of several high sides is a prime location for a blind girl like Madison. I would also bet that a box with the top removed, a pillow added and one side cut down would be a welcome retreat. Gives a feeling of security when you can feel the sides with your body as you sleep.
