Wilbur blood pressure recheck

I took Wilbur back to the clinic in Burlington last Thursday for a blood pressure recheck. In the photo our internal medicine specialist, Dr. Tanya Donovan, is holding Wilbur while vet tech Katie applies the blood pressure cuff to his leg.

Do you think that tongue of his could possibly be any longer? Such a tiny mouth, such a long tongue!

The good news is that his pressure has started to come down once we changed the medications. He was at 160, down from the 200 or so we started at. But Tanya wants to see him at 140, so she increased the dosage and we will recheck in a couple of weeks.

At that time Wilbur will also have surgery for a growth above his left eye socket that has been rapidly increasing in size in the past few weeks. Tanya took some cells out of it on Thursday and sent it off to a lab for analysis; the results came back on Saturday showing it's a low-grade tumor with only a few mast cells in it. Given how fast it's growing, though, the prudent thing to do is remove it before it becomes a major problem.

I also had Widget along for her annual "geriatric" screening, and I'll provide her update next time.

I think Wilbur is commenting on the blood-pressure cuff experience, and really hamming it up! Glad the medication is helping.

Didn;t know he was such a ham for the camera did ya?? Maybe he can help with your next mail out…he can lick the stamps… heeheeheehee (or maybe he is just laughing at all the other boys still ‘stuck at home’ knowing he’s getting the hugs and they aren’t!!!)

Oh gosh, if that’s not the greatest picture of Wilbur, I don’t know what is! I literally woke up one of my dogs because I burst out laughing so loud when I saw that tongue and the expression on his face. I just want to scoop him up and squeeze him!
So glad to hear that his blood pressure is coming down. I had to go through med changes for mine too, till they found one that worked well. Will be sending good vibes for Wilbur’s surgery.
Looking forward to hearing about Widget’s exam. How old is she, now?

Glad to know the meds are working and doing their job. You can see the little spot over his eye which I’m assuming is the growth. I know all will go well with that and he’ll be ready to play outside in the sun really soon.
